Mechanical engineering consultancy helping engineering teams ensure the structural integrity, reliability, and compliance of rotating machines and mechanical systems through structural simulation, vibration engineering, and rotordynamics analysis.

Resonant Engineering provides specialist engineering expertise for rotating machines and mechanical systems where structural integrity, vibration performance, reliability, or regulatory compliance are key engineering requirements.
We work alongside engineering teams responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of industrial equipment, machinery, and associated technologies. Our work includes assessing design performance, validating new concepts, demonstrating mechanical integrity, troubleshooting vibration issues, and supporting informed engineering decision making.
Our expertise combines finite element analysis (FEA), vibration engineering, and rotordynamics with practical engineering judgement built on experience across multiple industries and engineering applications. This gives engineering teams access to specialist expertise without the need to develop and maintain it in-house.
Combining deep technical expertise with strategic vision to engineer robust, high-performance solutions.

Resonant Engineering is led by Dr Vaclav Ondra CEng MIMechE, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer specialising in finite element analysis (FEA), vibration engineering and rotordynamics. Over the past decade, Vaclav has gained experience across the aerospace industry, research institutions and engineering consultancy, supporting the development, assessment and optimisation of complex mechanical systems and rotating machinery.
Prior to founding Resonant Engineering, Vaclav held senior engineering positions at Rolls-Royce plc. As a Principal Engineer, he led teams responsible for structural integrity, whole-engine vibration, and rotordynamics for both in-service and future gas turbine engines across civil and defence aerospace programmes. He was accountable for the technical direction, quality, and approval of engineering work, providing technical leadership, coaching, and independent review.
Beyond engineering delivery, Vaclav contributed to several engine development and R&D programmes, including UltraFan and Orpheus. He supported the development of certification strategies for composite fan blades and led research and development initiatives in engine structural dynamics, rotor vibration management, and alternatives to squeeze film dampers.
Vaclav has also worked extensively with leading research institutions. His previous work included the development of an active tendon technology for rotorcraft blade vibration mitigation at the University of Bristol, supervision of PhD and postdoctoral research in non-linear dynamics at Imperial College London, and the development of advanced system identification and non-linear modal analysis frameworks.
Vaclav regularly shares technical insights through peer-reviewed journal publications, scientific conferences, and LinkedIn. His work helps bridge the gap between research and development (R&D) and its practical application to engineering challenges.
He also contributes to industry publications, including a recent article in Pumps & Systems—a leading publication for the pump and rotating equipment sector. The article provides practical guidance on when finite element analysis (FEA) is worth the investment, how it complements physical testing, and the key considerations engineering teams should evaluate before outsourcing a simulation project.
Vaclav's experiences provide a breadth and depth of expertise that enables Resonant Engineering to support projects where structural integrity, vibration performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance are critical engineering requirements.
We'd be happy to discuss how Resonant Engineering can support you. Whether you need design validation, troubleshooting support, independent technical review, or specialist expertise, an initial consultation can help identify the most effective path forward.

We support clients at critical engineering decision points, where specialist expertise is needed to reduce technical uncertainty, validate designs or solve complex mechanical problems.
Critical speeds, stability margins, or rotor response are not sufficiently understood, increasing the risk of vibration problems, reliability issues, and costly design changes.
Stress, fatigue, deformation, or stability limits remain uncertain, increasing the risk of failure, over-design, project delays, and costly redesign.
Conformity with applicable standards, customer specifications, or certification requirements has not yet been demonstrated, increasing the risk of non-conformance, project rejection, and costly rework.
Technical risks and design assumptions remain insufficiently understood, creating uncertainty in design decisions and increasing the likelihood of rework and unsuccessful technology adoption.
Fault mechanisms, degradation trends, or remaining useful life are not sufficiently understood, increasing the risk of unplanned downtime, unnecessary maintenance, and unexpected failures.
Resonance, dynamic amplification, or abnormal response are causing reliability concerns, test failures, and reduced operational capability.
Don't let technical uncertainty stall your project.
